Specialist Company I SPY Limited is in the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) industry
This technology produces images of the invisible Infrared radiation and displays the temperature associated with very pixel of the image. Our Infrared Thermal Imaging camera is able to detect temperatures between -20°C and 600°C.
This equipment is used for Property and Electrical Inspections, detecting:
-
Hotspots,
-
Water leaks
-
Insulation problems
-
Exhaust systems
-
Refrigeration insulation faults
Infrared Thermal testing can also be used for the following:
-
General Inspection - Everything has a temperature and it is the slightest difference 0.1 deg C that shows what is good, bad or different from the surrounding surfaces.
-
Property Inspections - DON’T BUY A LEAKY BUILDING - Infrared Thermal Imaging is the quickest and easiest method to detect moisture in building surfaces that conventional meters can easily miss and includes a check for Insulation faults. It's amazing what can be found.
-
Electrical Inspections - Survey Electrical Switchboards, Sub panels and wiring terminals. Every loose connection will cause a hot spot that can lead to fire. A study in America states 2/3 of property fires are Electrical related.
-
Predictive Maintenance – Identify electrical and mechanical problems before they cause failure
-
Power/Utilities – Real-time analysis of substations, transmission lines and equipment
-
Process Monitoring – Real-time observation to ensure efficient and safe operation
-
Research & Development – Quantify heat patterns to improve product designs
-
Electronic Design – Close up circuit board analysis
What can be measured by Infrared Thermal Imaging?
Electrical distribution systems
-
Loose/deteriorated connections
-
Overloads
-
Imbalanced Loads
-
Open Circuits
-
Inductive Heating
-
Harmonics
-
Defective Equipment
|
Mechanical Systems
-
Misalignment of coupled equipment
-
Over/under lubrication of bearings
-
Over/under tension of belted systems
-
Excessive friction
-
Defective Equipment
|
Structural Energy Loss
-
Missing, damaged, or improperly installed insulation
-
Energy losses caused by air infiltration and exfiltration
-
Water infiltration
-
Damaged refractory
|
Flat Roofs
-
Identify latent moisture
-
Missing, damaged, or improperly installed insulation
|
Electronics Manufacture
-
Improper soldering of circuitry
-
Reversed polarity of a component
-
Erroneous component placements that cause the circuitry to heat up
-
Visualisation and quantification of heat patterns
-
Monitoring of circuit board temperatures during curing
|
Surveillance & Security
-
Fires, even hidden grass fires
-
People & Animals
-
Vehicles and Aircraft

This is just a small list of what can be undertaken.
All images will be delivered on CD with software and if required a printed report.
Report lay-out
This will be presented in clear pocket folder with summary of faults found.

Summary
The bearing on drive end of this gear case has a problem. Bearing is operating at 54.4 deg with the main housing at 25.9 deg. Recommend coupling alignment be checked. If O/K then bearing removed for inspection.
An Ultra Sound reading of this bearing will determine if bearing failure is happening.
